The first facility for the new East Midlands Institute of Technology (EMIoT) has opened at the University of Derby.
The site at the University’s Enterprise Centre will support teaching in a range of digital and engineering subjects; including computer games animation, design engineering and mechatronics.
The EMIoT is a partnership between the University of Derby, Derby College Group, the University of Loughborough and Loughborough College; and business partners Bloc Digital, Fujitsu, Alstom, National Grid/ESO, Uniper, Toyota and Rolls-Royce.
From September 2024, its courses will begin supporting the creation of a future-fit workforce for digital and low-carbon economies across the East Midlands.
More on the EMIoT can be found on its website at www.emiot.ac.uk
The development of the EM IoT is supported by the Department for Education, who have provided the capital funding and the strategic initiative for 21 Institutes of Technology in England, and the Gatsby Foundation, who are supporting the delivery of IoTs.
