East Midlands Institute of Technology statement on today's (March 6, 2024) Budget announcement:
Rachel Quinn, Executive Director of the East Midlands Institute of Technology, said: “We would strongly support the Chancellor’s ambition for a ‘high wage, high skill’ economy; and agree that ‘..one of the biggest barriers to investment is businesses not being able to hire the staff they need’.”

“That’s why from September 2024 the East Midlands Institute of Technology will be providing high-quality technical courses at apprentice, T-Level, BTEC, HNC, degree, Masters and postgraduate levels; particularly for careers in engineering, manufacturing, digital and ICT, and professional construction.

“Learning will be delivered by our partners the University of Derby, Derby College, Loughborough University and Loughborough College; with business insight helping shape courses provided by our industrial partners Alstom, Bloc Digital, ESO, Fujitsu, Rolls-Royce and Uniper.

“More specifically, the announcements today on NHS digital transformation, tax relief for hi-tech creative industries and additional funds for the Green Industries Growth Accelerator - which supports advanced manufacturing in net zero energy sectors – shows that our students will be learning the very technical skills needed for our future economy.”
