Midlands Energy Summit hears from East Midlands IoT Executive Director

Our Executive Director Rachel Quinn was at the Midlands Energy Summit today (November 28), to discuss skills role in driving a green energy economy.
The annual East Midlands Chamber Summit – in partnership with East Midlands Freeport and the University of Nottingham’s Energy Institute – was held at Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd at Burnaston, Derbyshire (the car manufacturer is an East Midlands IoT business partner).
Bringing together businesses, academics and policy-makers; topics during the day included the future of energy production, storage and provision; nuclear and hydrogen technologies, modular reactors, decarbonisation and more.
Rachel took part in a discussion panel on the key issue of ‘How can skills drive the energy transition and decarbonisation?’ Fellow panellists were:

In September the East Midlands Institute of Technology and East Midlands Freeport jointly announced the launch of the ‘Future Energy Skills Hub’(or FESH). A £2m investment by the Freeport, in new advanced manufacturing and clean energy skills training, will be delivered by East Midlands IoT (via its partners Derby College Group, Loughborough College, the University of Derby and Loughborough University) beginning September 2025.
