Our partner Loughborough College has won a sustainability award for its work on projects including the new East Midlands Institute of Technology building based at its main site. 
College leaders attended business news website The Business Desk's 2025 Midlands Sustainabillity Excellence Awards on Friday (May 23rd), at the Edgbaston Park Hotel, Birmingham. 
Loughborough College won the 'Sustainability Project' Award category, incoluding for its work on the new East Midlands IoT building at its main Radmoor Road campus. It was also shortlisted in the 'Property and Construction' category. 
 
The three-storey, £6.5million East Midlands IoT technical learning hub is due to open to students in September (2025). It will feature nine new classrooms, four science labs, two open plan working spaces and three offices. It will mainly be used by engineering, electronics, digital and business course students. 
Construction was by the Lindum Group. The new building's low energy demand features include technologies such as mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, heat pumps for heating and hot water, and solar panels for greater sustainability.
