An article by Baggy Shanker, Derby South MP, has praised the benefits of technical education in Derby and the work of the East Midlands IoT in supporting it's development.
In an opinion piece in this month's (May) East Midlands Chamber magazine, Business Network, Mr Shanker draws on his own background in engineering to say:
“I know what technical education really means in practice. It means confidence. It means progresion. It means earning while you learn. And at a national level it means productivity, resilience and growth.
"That is why the work of the East Midlands Institute of Technology matter so much, not only for Derby but for England’s wider economic future.”
The article followed a visit by Mr Shanker to the East Midlands IoT’s techology hub, based at partner Derby College Group’s main Roundhouse campus in Derby.
