Responding to today’s (October 30) Budget announcement by the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, the East Midlands Institute of Technology’s Executive Director, Rachel Quinn, said: “We were pleased to see the Chancellor’s priorities for growth include pledges on shaping technical education to fill employer’s skills gaps and maximising green energy initiatives; both at the core of what the East Midlands Institute of Technology does.

“We look forward to working with the new Government body, Skills England, when it begins its work next year to shape technical education; as the network of 21 Institutes of Technology are already doing across England.

“Last month (September) we announced our £2million partnership with East Midlands Freeport; to train a new generation of students in advanced manufacturing, clean energy and decarbonisation skills through the newly created Future Energy Skills Hub (or FESH). The first FESH courses students will begin learning with us in September 2025.”
