The East Midlands IoT has held its first ‘IoT Inspire’ seminar, focusing on Innovation in the UK

Free IoT Inspire talks and events are due to be held regularly in 2025. Hosted by the East Midlands IoT these will feature expert guest speakers presenting on a range of educational, business and commercial topics; with an opportunity for attendees to put their views and ask questions. Events will be a mixture of online and in-person.

For the first IoT Inspire session today (held online) the speakers were Martin Rigley, Chair of the East Midlands IoT (and former CEO and MD of Notts firm Lindhurst Engineering), and Dr John Thorley, Senior Business Lecturer in the University of Derby’s College of Science and Engineering; whose special interests include business improvement, sustainability and organisational behaviour (pictured above).

The 45 minute seminar considered questions such as:
• What is innovation, and why is it vital to the UK and regional economy?
• How companies and organisations can develop innovative thinking practices?
• What can workplaces to do to embed opportunities for innovation in their structures?

Further IoT Inspire sessions will be held during the year.
They will be advertised on this Events web page and via our X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn social media channels (button links to these are available, right hand side of this web page).
